JOHN VALENTINE Obituary

VALENTINE

October 11, 1958 -

January 11, 2024

John W Valentine was a loving Father, a caring Husband, a courageous leader, and an all-around good guy. After an extensive battle with cancer, he passed away on January 11th, 2024 in his Coppell home surrounded by family and notably his loving dog, Cody.

Born on October 11th, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas he was the second of two children. He is preceded in death by his parents, John “Jack” Valentine and Nancy Valentine. He is survived by his wife, Kristi Valentine, son Reid Valentine, daughter Maura Valentine, and sister Kim Valentine.

After growing up in North Dallas and attending W.T. White High School, where he was reportedly “The Man”, he attended Texas Tech University on a baseball scholarship. From there, he did everything from managing the openings of TGI Fridays across the country to being a professional photographer for the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Finally, he harnessed his natural ability of being outrageously likable and went into telecom sales. He could sell water to a speedboat. At the ripe age of 54, he founded Valentine Premier Roofing out of a single cab Ford F-150. The business's tagline since day one has been “Building Relationships and Creating Customers for Life,” he valued doing the right thing and establishing trust over all else - something that all who knew him can vouch for.

From coaching Reid in every sport and impacting countless young men, to being a dedicated dance dad to Maura and breaking traffic laws to deliver forgotten costumes to the Majestic Theatre in Dallas - he was an ever-present father. The world is run by the people who show up, and John Valentine showed up for his family and his friends like no other.

The man was many things, but most of all he was funny. Even up to his final days, his signature sarcasm brought laughter to his loved ones just as it had for decades before. His iconic laugh will be remembered by all who heard it.

A life well lived, a man thoroughly loved. “Period, end of story”.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 19 at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell. The celebration of life will be held on Saturday Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church Coppell.
