Carl Hicks Obituary
Carl Thomas Hicks, Sr., 82, of Angier Street, Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 in the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hicks was born August 8, 1926 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Thomas and Ida Elizabeth McMurray Hicks. He was a United States Army Veteran. While living in Albemarle, he worked in the furniture trade. Mr. Hicks was the owner and operator of Carl's Food Mart in Seaside from 1975 until 1986 and co-owner of Hicks Auto Sales He is preceded in death by his wife Sarah Vadine Hicks.
Surviving are his two sons Carl T. Hicks, Jr., wife Pamela, of Lancaster, SC, Randy Hicks, wife Joyce, of Lexington, SC; a daughter Kay Gallagher, husband Randy, of Sunset Beach, NC; a sister Anne Griffin of Myrtle Beach, SC; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Reverend Wayne Turnage. Burial will follow in the Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation 5950 Fairview Road, Suite 708, Charlotte, NC 28210.

Mr. Hicks was our patient at the dialysis clinic, and he was very much loved by all who met him. We will never forget what a very special person he was, and we did so appreciate his very special loving and giving personality to all of us. He will be missed greatly, and for always in our prayers. I know that I will never forget him. Our prayers to all of his family, who he very much loved and enjoyed sharing tales of their visits with all of us.
