Carl H. Risley

CARL H. RISLEY Father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and World War II Veteran Carl Risley, passed away Friday night. He would have been 95 years-old next Wednesday. Carl was married for 71 years to Lela Risley who passed away in January 2016. Carl met Lela while he was still in the Navy and married her when the war ended. They went on to raise 2 sons while Carl worked first in the newspaper industry but then moved to GE in the late 50's. He began his GE career in San Jose, California, then at the Vallecitos Atomic Laboratory near Pleasanton, California. In 1967 when GE began to build its Castle Hayne plant, Carl moved to Wilmington to manage the purchasing department. After retirement Carl was an active participant in the GE Retirees luncheons, a 3-times-a-week exerciser at the hospital cardiac rehabilitation program, and a frequent golfer at the Pine Valley club near his home. He recently received his 60-year certificate from the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his son James C. Risley of Wilmington; his son Christopher Risley of Santa Cruz, CA; his grandchildren: Sandy, Gwyn, Rodney, Susan, Luke, Benjamin, Sophia plus 9 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. One beloved granddaughter, Karen, passed away in 2011. Carl did not want a funeral. The family will plan and announce a remembrance service.
