Louisa Lanier Obituary

MRS. LOUISA SHEPARD LANIER

Mrs. Louisa Shepard Lanier died October 20, 2011. She was born June 20, 1922, in Dixon, NC. She was the daughter of the late Julia Rawls Shepard. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Mr. William Lucas Lanier.

Mrs. Lanier left two sons, Mr. William Lanier and Paula and David Lanier; two grandchildren, William Lanier III and Libbie and Katherine Lanier; two great grandchildren, Ellie and Luke Lanier; three sisters, Verna Fleming of Jacksonville, FL, Hilda Edens and Virginia Wheeler both of Wilmington and a brother-in-law, Harvey Lanier and Ann of Titusville, FL.

Mrs. Lanier left behind a great legacy. She was very independent, self-reliant, honest, truthful and assertive. Her work ethics were unapproachable. She worked for Sears 37 years and headed the catalogue department. She and Mr. Lanier were members of Temple Baptist Church and after retirement enjoyed the fellowship of their church. Her favorite activity was gardening and she enjoyed being outside and taking care of her azaleas.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers, Sylvia Midgett, Rene James, Christopher James and Jaxine James. They enabled her to stay in her home where she could enjoy her yard and two longtime neighbors, Mrs. Nelle Carpenter and Mrs. Dorothy Miller.

A graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Del E. Parkerson, of Temple Baptist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to one's favorite charity.
