Alice Ruth Parrish

1946 - 2023

We deeply mourn the loss of Alice Ruth Riely Parrish, our cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Alice left us peacefully on November 14, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selfless service.

Alice was born in Elgin, Texas, on October 30, 1946, and grew up in Austin. She pursued her passion for nursing at the University of Texas and dedicated her career to caring for others. In 2001, the Smith County Medical Alliance recognized her commitment to medicine with the prestigious Heart of Gold Award. Alice significantly impacted Tyler, Texas, during her career before retiring back to Austin. There, she continued to be a cornerstone of her community, known for her boundless generosity and willingness to support those in need.

Alice's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. She lived with a selfless spirit, embracing people's differences and celebrating their unique talents. Alice loved reading, listening to beautiful music, and sewing, finding joy and solace in these pursuits. She was also a gifted cook, creating cherished family memories around the dinner table during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Alice enjoyed sitting on her porch with a fire and friends, savoring simple pleasures. Her unwavering faith in Christ guided her throughout her life, bringing her peace and comfort.

Alice's devoted sons, Graydon Parrish and Maxwell Parrish; her adored grandchild, Clyde Parrish-Kelley; and her loving sister, Jimmie Sue Francis, survive her. Her beloved husband, Jerry Parrish, and her dear daughter, Amy Ruth Parrish, predeceased her.

We will hold a memorial service to celebrate Alice's remarkable life on March 23, 2024, at her home in Austin, 811 Kinney Ave, at 1:00. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation, a cause close to Alice's heart.

Alice's legacy of kindness, love, and faith will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. We will miss Alice deeply and treasure her memory for eternity.
