Allen Butler Obituary

Allen Ainsley Butler Allen Ainsley Butler, age 47, passed away in Austin, Texas on April 17, 2012. Allen was born and raised in Center Point, Texas, moving to Lago Vista before his senior year in high school. He worked his way through the University of Texas where he earned a BBA in 1988. While in college Allen lived on Ashby Avenue, where he met a neighbor named Laura Roy when she was a student at Austin High. They married on August 5, 1989 and came to live and raise a family on that very same street. Allen worked as a property manager with Intco Properties for 20 years, where he was known to be an honorable man of good humor, encouraging his employees to "put family first." He was a long-standing, active member of the Austin real-estate community, including CLBA and BOMA. Thoughtful, reflective, attentive, kind and funny, Allen was an active member of First Evangelical Free Church, a devoted Children's Leader with Bible Study Fellowship International, an active Town Lake YMCA Boot Camp member, as well as an avid, expert outdoorsman. Allen was a key adult leader in Boy Scout Troop 17 for ten years, giving selflessly of his time, money and his truck, and participating in all high-adventure camps and Philmont with his sons. He helped develop the leadership and character of many local boys, while presencing a profound reverence for nature. The boys of Troop17 elected him to the Order of the Arrow, the scout honor society. He is survived by his wife Laura; his children Hayden, Trent, Jane, and Simon of Austin; parents Mitchell and Sharon Butler of Granite Shoals; brother Mitchell R. Butler and wife Sarah of Arlington (Jake and Kyle); sister Vonda Avalos and husband John of Austin (Tanner, Canyon, and Dani-Grace); brother Walton Butler of Granite Shoals (Jason and Joshua); sister Shara Myers and husband Cary of Dripping Springs (Shanna, Macy, and Zane). Allen is also survived by his parents-in-law Ronald and Viola Roy of Austin. Allen loved people, and people loved him; he will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 21st at 5:00 p.m. at First Evangelical Free Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd., in Austin, Texas. Donations may be made to the Allen Butler Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank; email [email protected] or call 293-8537 with questions about the fund. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

Laura and children. I don't have many memories of growing up that don't contain Allen. Allen was my best friend though I had to share him between my twin brother, Hart and others. I began drawing portraits with Allen as my very first model on the playground in the 3rd grade. He didn't think it looked like him but I told him it did. We and about 12 others grew up together for roughly 12 years.
I remember how proud and happy Allen was when he introduced me to you at the state track meet in 1985 or so. Words cannot express how sorry I am for the tremendous loss shared by you, your children, Mr. and Mrs. B, Allen's siblings, extended family and many, many friends. May God bless you, your children and the Butler family.

Laura & Family,
Allen loved everyone. He never met a stranger for as long as I have known him. He was my cousin, and a great friend. I will forever revere his memory in my heart and mind, and will miss him more than you can imagine. The world has lost one of the most pleasant and friendliest people, but I am proud to have known him.

Sincerely, Clifton Feuerbacher.

Dear Laura,
Allen's BSF family will miss him terribly. He was the sort of Children's Leader who could take a group of unruly kids and lead them to Jesus. His creativity and love for Jesus touched kids and adults alike, and we all were privileged, encouraged, and blessed in so many ways to have known him. Thanks for sharing him with us.
We are praying for you and available to you and the Butler kids. Please call on us when you need us. We love you as we loved Allen.

Allen will sorely be missed. He became my friend over the years and was a joy to talk to when I saw him at work. I will never forget our great fishing trip to the beach with his son and he will always be in my thoughts.
