Baker Jones Obituary

(06/20/2003) Baker Parrish Jones, born August 3, 1929, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Jimmie Hill and Mary Alice Jones. He died June 18, 2003, at the age of 73. Baker graduated from Lamar HS in Houston in 1947 and the University of Texas in 1951. He was LTJG in the Navy 1951-1955. He was VP with Bell Transportation 1955-56 and VP with Service Transport 1965-1975 in Houston, President of Conwell Smith Sales 1975-1991 in Austin and retired 1991. On January 12, 2001, Baker obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ (at Westover Hills Church of Christ) which added him to God's Church and he became a very devout Christian influencing lots of people. He was a Bronze Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). He is survived by three children, Chris and Randy Jones of Houston and Susanne Kirk of Dallas; five grandchildren; and brother, Jimmie Hill Jones Jr. of Houston. Memorial services will be held Saturday June 21, 2003, at 12:30 p.m. at the Westover Hills Church of Christ, 8332 Mesa Drive (at Steck) Austin, Texas, 78759.
