Jerry Osborne Obituary

Jerry Osborne was born on February 3, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK. Surrounded by family, he passed away on September 2, 2022 in Austin, TX from complications of pulmonary fibrosis. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Lorene Osborne.

Jerry attended grade school in Alvin and League City, Junior and Senior high school in Corpus Christi, graduating from WB Ray High School in 1957. He graduated from Rice University with a BA and a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1962. He attained an MSEE from Stanford University in 1963.

His Army service as 2nd Lt Corp of Engineers, 1964-1966 was done at NASA MSC.

Jerry had a long career with IBM New Product Development, working in Lexington, KY prior to his move to Austin in 1968, retiring in 1996. He spent two years with IBM in Tokyo in the early 90's.

Jerry had many interests through the years, including golf, hunting, Alliance Francaise d'Austin, the Butler Hike and Bike Trail, and extensive travel throughout the US and world-wide.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Darden Deviney; sister, Mary Denson and husband Lee; children: daughter Lisa Carlile and husband Butch, son Neil Osborne and wife Angela, daughter Alison Roth and husband Erik, son Blair Osborne, and stepson Lloyd Deviney and wife Frances, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jerry will be missed by all who knew and loved him and we will forever cherish our memories of a kind and gentle soul who lived a good life.
