John Shepherd Obituary

"Clint" passed peacefully at home in Austin, TX, on January 22, 2025. Born in Midland, TX, he grew up in the Houston area. Excelling in journalism, debate, and serving as Senior Class President at B.F. Terry High School. His passion for French began early, leading him to major in the language at Austin College, where he was a member of the Tri-Gams fraternity and spent JanTerms in Lyon, where his host family became his second family.

Clint earned a master's in French at the University of Houston before teaching at a lycée in France. He later built a career in travel, rising to Luxury Collection Reservation Sales Manager at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, with roles in Kauai and Tahiti before settling in Austin. In semi-retirement, he tutored French and explored local gems as a Yelp Elite Gold member.

He is survived by his spouse, Edwyn Abenes; his dog, Stella; his brothers, Cason and Cody Mashburn; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juhree Mashburn, and his father, Mitchell Mashburn.
