While in 10th grade in 1974 I was in Mr Becker's English class. But what I remember most about him was his love of film. I joined the Texas Student Film Society run by Mr Becker. We met at nights to review student films for the student film festival. He brought us to the Paramount so we could see a screening of Badlands made by his former student, Terrence Malick.
I'll be at the Paramount next week and every time I go I think of that day. He was truly a positive influence on all whom were blessed to meet him.

I remember the famous Yurt building semester that Dr. Becker did with his 10th grade English class in 1973-73. The advice of his I remember also was: " Live this day as if you had already messed up the first attempt, and this was your second chance."

There is a old Irish saying, " Death brings a heart ache that no one can heal, but love leaves a memory that no one can steal." My thoughts and prayers to his loved ones. RIP

My condolence for the loss of an inspiration to many. A shared memory as to tennis: I heard him repeat the statement "if you get your 1st serve in then you never have to worry about double-faulting". That has resonated in my head each day I walk on the court.

What I remember most about Dr. Becker is his smile, kindness, enthusiasm, and energy. He encouraged and recognized creativity and saw the best in others. I will miss him dearly. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Dr. Becker was an integral part of my life at St. Stephen's in the early '70s. A dorm parent at Gregg, a soccer coach and referee, a teacher of English and Film, and the force behind the St. Stephen's Film Festivals. But I will always remember him for one primary phrase he repeated often: "Everything in life is a learning experience". I may have scoffed and rolled my eyes when he repeated that line, but years later I would recognize how incredibly true and powerful was that statement. Thank you, Dr. Becker, for all of the life lessons.
