Mark Ransick Obituary

Mark Nickolaos Ransick
Austin - Mark Nickolaos Ransick passed away unexpectedly February 17, 2021, at the age of 63, in Austin, Texas. Mark was born August 23, 1957 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada to Colonel Clarence Edward and Clarine Lillian Ransick.
Living in a military family, Mark moved several times growing up and was the epitome of an "Army Brat." Mark lived in Canada, Kentucky, Germany, Maryland and Arkansas before he started his life's career with the Internal Revenue Service.
After graduating from Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1975, Mark went on to study Accounting at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, where he graduated in 1979. He received his M.B.A. from St. Edwards University in Austin in 1989.
Mark landed his first job with the IRS in 1979, in Abilene, Texas, but soon moved to Austin, Texas in 1983, which became his home for life. There his work focused on Windfall Profit Tax and TEFRA (a complex partnership law). Mark became the national expert in TEFRA, developing and delivering training and job aids for the entire nation. He retired after 39 years of outstanding service in the US Civil Service in 2018.
Mark's relationships with family and friends were the most important thing to him throughout his life. He loved travel, playing Warcraft with his friends, collecting rocks and minerals, movie memorabilia, comics, the latest tech toys and eclectic art. Mark was a talented and masterful chess player since his high school chess club.
Preceding Mark in death are his mother and father. Surviving Mark are his five siblings - Sandra L. Newkirk (Shenandoah Junction, WV); Eric J. Ransick (Highlands Ranch, CO); Scott E. Ransick (Tucson, AZ); Colonel James C. Ransick (Jupiter, FL); Cynthia R. Radle (Cypress, TX); and numerous nieces and nephews.
