Pete MITCHELL Obituary
Pete Mitchell, 74, of Buda, died on Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was a member of the Texas Troubadours and was Ernest Tubb's last guitar player.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paula and sons, Greg and Jesse.
Visitation will be held at Pennington Funeral Home on Thursday, July 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Buda, with the Rev. Buddy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Barton Cemetery in Buda.

Just learned of Pete's death. First met him at the Stagecoach Ballroom in Fort Worth 1974-75. Moved to Colorado Springs in April 1975. Got a job at the Black Stallion. Didn't know anyone hardly. Waiting tables while Ernest Tubb was playing. Took a second glance and there was Pete up there on stage. He got an autograph for me that I still have from Ernest Tubb. It was so great seeing someone I know from home. Pete was always a gentleman. So sorry for the family's loss.

Saw him perform with ET at a small club in the Grand Rapids Mi. area. Had a chance to chat with him a bit and that's when I found out he was from Canada. Told me he studied classic guitar for 7 years and had planned on that being his livelihood. The demand for classic guitar wasn't enough to pay bills so a friend told him ET was holding tryouts for a new lead player and urged him to audition. Needless to say he made it. And what a guitar player he was. One of the best I've ever heard. A memorable evening. Thanx Pete.

My deepest sympathy at the death of your husband and father. I first met him in 1978 here in Bellevue NE when I was 14. I got his photograph and autograph. Now all these years later I am back in Bellevue NE as a pastor. Next to Jimmie, Billy, Leon, and your husband and dad, Pete was as good as them all fr del lape
