Roger HERNANDEZ Obituary

HERNANDEZ, Roger Roger was born in Austin, September 4th, 1974 and graduated from Anderson High School in 1992. He grew up with his only sibling Raquel, loving her and helping her through life as he did with many others. Roger quickly found his passion and success in the hospitality industry. Working for iconic Austin restaurants for years as he moved to the top of the business. He operated one of the most successful restaurant companies in North Austin for over 12 years captivating the hearts and loyalty of his guests, employees, and friends. Roger was an icon in Austin, sometimes lovingly referred to as the Mayor of North Austin. He made every person around him feel like a VIP. He treated thousands of his guests like royalty, family and best friends. Roger knew your kid's names, your birthday, anniversary date, what kind of flowers you liked and would have your car cleaned before you were done with dinner. Everyone chose to celebrate their most important special occasion with him because they knew he would make it unforgettable. Knowing Roger made life better, more memorable and we will never forget him. He fought a difficult fight with incredible strength and courage. Those who knew him knew his selfless and enduring compassion for others. Roger always put his family and friends first and said he'd take care of himself later. Later turned into months, and then years. After a visit to the ICU a couple weeks ago, Roger passed peacefully on the afternoon of October 28, 2017. Roger was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kind soul was accented by his energetic banter. He treated everyone he knew - personally and professionally - with the same bubbly cheerfulness that we will always remember him by. He is survived by his loving Husband Fabian Salcedo, his parents Manuela (Nelly) and Modesto (Mo) Hernandez, his adoring sister Raquel Sharp and her Husband Gary Sharp, and his niece and nephews, Bianca, Brian and Brandon. Celebration of Life held November 19th from 2-4 at Moonshine Grill.

Roger was indeed a kind and generous man, taking care of so many details of our wedding 5 years ago. There was nothing he was not willing to do for us. He was a joy to be around and we feel honored to have called him a friend. Our hearts are with his family during this difficult time.
