Arthur Lee Campbell

1916 - 2003

Arthur Lee Campbell, 87, died July 18, 2003 at his residence in St. Augustine. He was a native of St. Augustine. He attended the University of Florida where he received a B.A. in Architecture. He maintained an architectural practice in Gainesville for many years. He served as a colonel in the U.S. Army in both World War II and Korea.

His work included designing numerous buildings at the University of Florida, including the Library West, the Psychology building, Kappa Delta Sorority and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity houses. He was the original architect for Santa Fe Community College and designed many Alachua County schools. He also designed many other buildings in Gainesville including the Gainesville Country Club, The Alachua County Courthouse and the Gainesville Women's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice Campbell, St. Augustine; daughter, Kathleen Wilson, Greenville, S.C.; son, Art Campbell, Gainesville; sisters, Marie Harrison, Owensboro, Ky., and Grace Harris, Clearwater; three grandchildren, Kevin Campbell, Laura Hinds, and Katie McConnell.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Earl Thompson, officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Augustine.

Craig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
