John was a good and kind man that did so much for so many people. It was a pleasure to know him and I am thankful for God's mercy that he did not suffer with some horrible illness later in life. Godspeed.

John was a member of my Senior High School class (it was my only year at Ocala High). He was always a gentle man - he was there when I needed him when my parents died - John Wells and Virginia Wells. The world has been a better place because of John's life. Thank you, John

I'm so sorry that John is gone. My prayers are with his family. I graduated highschool with John in 1952. He was a great guy then and all his life. He was kind, and he was so well dressed.

John was a dear and beloved childhood friend of mine and the entire Tatum Family.
We went through all the same schools together-Ocala Senior High and the U. of F. Our families were inseparable through out our lives. John will be greatly missed. We were to have spent Easter together.

What a lost for Ocala and
Hiers Funeral Home.
I was born in Citra and grew up in Ocala and worked for Mr. John in Highland Mem. Park.
Mowing weedeating and working funerals.
Know I live in Amory Mississippi and I work for a great Funeral Home that does great work like Hiers Funeral Home does.
May Mr. Hiers rest in peace and his family know that He is now with Jesus.

John and his Dad and Mom gave me my first "real" job. The Hiers will never be forgotten as will the wonderful people that have always been employed at the funeral home. Many of the habits that I now have that John taught such as "attention to details" still follow me as I help families as a funeral director. Mary and I will always be grateful for the Hiers and employees getting us started in our married life. John was a character whom I shall never forget.

I was saddened to hear of John's passing. I had the honor of serving with John on the Board of Pilot Commissioners; a state board where John actively served as a Consumer Member Commissioner. One of his many contributions to the board was as informal parliamentarian. His previous experience with other state licensing boards greatly served the Pilot Board and he will be greatly missed.
Sincerely, Victoria Robas
