LaNora McKercher Obituary

LaNora "June" McKercher, 90, of St. Augustine, peacefully passed away Dec. 17, 2015 at Moultrie Creek Nursing & Rehab Center.

June is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Kathleen Barnard; three brothers, Jack, Bill Jr., Bobby and her loving husband, Robert A. McKercher.

She is survived by sister, Betty Lou Kidwell (Buster), of Morro Bay, Calif., and children, Ted Alan McKercher (Chris), of Melbourne, Fla., Susan Kay Butterfield (Paul), of Winter Park, Fla., Terrence Randall McKercher, Saint Augustine, Fla.; grandson, Timothy A. McKercher and (Michele) Chenard of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; great-grandson, Tyson Avery McKercher; great-granddaughter, Tia Chenard McKercher, as well as other beloved relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.

June was a member of the United Methodist Women's Loving Circle, Azalea Garden Club, an RSVP volunteer at Crookshank Elementary and St. Augustine Women's Club (Life Member). She attended 32 years without missing a monthly meeting and was named Club "Woman of the Year" in May '94. June was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A kind and gentle soul, who was known for her sweetness, and one who prayed for peace in the world, June had quiet strength, a genuine smile, infectious laughter and a twinkle in her eyes. It was not in her nature to raise her voice against another. She lived and practiced the Golden Rule. June will be missed dearly and greatly.

A visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, and a celebration of June's life will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Pat Turner-Sharpton officiating. Following, June will be interred next to her beloved husband, Robert, at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 118 King St., St. Augustine, FL 32084.

Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
