Simon Hanley Obituary

Simon Philip Hanley died peacefully on April 13, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Frances, and children. Born and raised in The Bronx to Simon Patrick and Sallie (Shevlin) Hanley. He attended Cathedral College, New York; St. Mary's, Louisville, Kentucky; St. Michael's College, Winooski, Vemont; St. Joseph's, Dunwoodie, N.Y.; Fordham University, Brooklyn Law School and NYU (master's).
He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953, including participation in Operation Bluejay in Thule Bay, Greenland, with the 373th Major Port Operation and in 1951 deployed to Korea as a replacement in the 25th Infantry Division and later reassigned with the 101st Signal Corps, Communications Support – IX Corps, Korea (Chunchon area). He was employed with the FBI in New York and Monsanto Co., Textile Division for 26 years as marketing manager, Northern and West Coast, Fiber and Yarn; subsequently, formed SI-TEX Inc., Import/Export Textile Fibers/Yarns.
Si and Mary Frances retired to St. Augustine, Florida, in 1991 and became parishioners of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Si was a 3rd-degree Knight of Columbus Council 7121 and 4th-degree Knight of Columbus, Bishop Verot Assembly, 0166 and a member of the Eucharistic Adoration Adores at St. Anastasia Church.
Memorial services will be held at St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 9 a.m. Inurnment will take place at St. Anastasia Catholic Church at a later date.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
