Virginia Dasher Obituary

Virginia Ann Register Dasher, born Dec. 3, 1929, passed away May 26, 2015, in the presence of her daughters.
Virginia (Ginny) was born in Tarpon Springs, Fla., to John and Clara Register. Virginia loved music, especially the Big Band era. She was also very fond of her memories playing the trombone in her high school band. In the 1960s she and her husband and family became St. Augustine residents so that her deaf son, Don, could attend school here. Most of her life was spent taking care of her family except for the 10-plus years she was a cashier at Harry's Curb Mart.
Virginia was a very giving person. She loved being able to help others. There were a few years that she had three to four additional children in her home. She always tried to believe the best of people and strived to keep a positive attitude about life. In addition to being a wonderful mother to her six children, Virginia was a devoted wife, grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 26. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dasher, Sr.
Virginia is survived by her sister, Bertha Turner; children, Carolyn Sims (Jerry), Darlene Hanson (David), Nancy Outley (Tom), Donald Dasher, Jr., John Dasher (Donna), Marilyn Baker (Charles); grandchildren, Julie Sims (Larry), Les Sims (Gina), John Sims (Savannah), Cody Sims (Christine), Michael Hanson (Jessica), Jason Hanson (Verena), Rebecca Hanson, Jonathan Hanson, Tommy Outley (Carmen), Derek Outley (Jamie), Danny Outley (Megan), Carrie Lewis (Harold), J.D. Dasher, Charlie Baker (Brandy), Adam Baker and Sam Baker; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Virginia's family would like to thank Haven Hospice and the Ponce Therapy Care Center for the loving care she received in her latter years/days.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Haven Hospice of St. Augustine.

Mrs. Dasher (Ginny) was a wonderful lady who loved to sing to the old songs, and would make people smile. I have had the pleasure of getting to know her from the Ponce.

I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Ginny's passing but I know she is no longer suffering. I have wonderful childhood memories in her home with my cousins! She told me when my mom passed 15 years ago that she loved her like a sister - I know they are all together now!! My thoughts are with all of you - you are so blessed to have had her in your lives all these years. Love you all!
