GAIL MELSON 07/24/1937 - 08/12/2025 BUTTERFIELD: A Funeral Service for Gail Melson, 88, of rural Butterfield was 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin with burial in Kansas Lake Cemetery in rural Butterfield. Gail was called to her eternal rest on Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 2025, at her home in rural Butterfield. Visitation was from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2025, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church in Odin. Kramer Family Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome, was in charge of Gail's arrangements. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com. Gail Virginia Redmond was born on July 24, 1937, to Lee and Lorene (Conley) Redmond in St. James. Gail grew up in St. James where she attended school. Gail was employed as a telephone operator and worked for her family in Northside Café in St. James. On August 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to Jerome Melson at First Lutheran Church in St. James. After their marriage they farmed in Odin Township and raised their family. Gail was a member of Kansas Lake Lutheran Church where she was involved in many church offices and functions. She enjoyed playing her guitar, making quilts and doing crafts and going to the casinos. You could find Gail doing puzzles and reading a good book. Gail loved her dogs, Misty, Taffy, Benji, Molly, Ginger, Sparky and numerous outdoor dogs. Gail is survived by her two daughters, Pat Johnson and David Sackmann of rural Dunnell and Julie (Russell) Nelson of Ormsby; grandchildren, Alex, Kyle, Tyler, Ryan, Haley, Stacey; grandchildren, Erin, Makenna, Andy, Dillon, Selena, Claire, Kate, Cora, Campbell and Gretchen; sister-in-law, June Johnson of Rochester; nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Lorene Redmond; husband, Jerome Melson on June 21, 2008; son, Ron Melson on March 28, 2021; son-in-law, Gary Johnson on May 31, 2010 and other relatives.
