MICHAEL BARRETT 12/06/1951 - 05/21/2025 Michael "Mike" Henry Barrett, 73, of St. James died on May 21, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James Chapel and will continue on Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James Chapel. Service will be held at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. The clergy will be Father Timothy Hall. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - Redwood Falls at a later date. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Mike was born on December 6, 1951, to Robert Jr. and Mary Barrett. He graduated from Morgan Public High School in 1969. Mike enlisted in the United States Navy in 1970 for four years. Throughout this time, he was stationed on USS Milwaukee and USS Escape. Following his service to the U.S. Navy, Mike enlisted with the National Guards until his retirement from the military in 1994. Mike married Donna (Sullivan) on April 29, 1977. They resided in Redwood Falls until 1984 when they relocated to St. James. Mike and Donna adopted their eldest son, Jeffrey, on April 8, 1988. They welcomed their second child, Katarina, four years later. Mike and Donna have called St. James home where they raised their family. Mike will be remembered for his "sense of humor," cribbage skills, his fondness for watching sports, and nights catfishing. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jr. and Mary (Mertens) Barrett; his father-and mother-in-law, Benedict and Marie (Eisenbarth) Sullivan; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Sullivan and Stephen Sullivan. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Jeffrey (Averie) Barrett; daughter, Katarina (David) Krzmarzick; five grandchildren, Knoxyn, Lola, Slade, Quinten, and Thorin; sisters, Sharon (John) Hagen, and Teri (Harvey) Dingmann; in-laws, Veronica Hecht, Bev Swift, Jean Sullivan, Denny (Patty) Sullivan, Pat (Cindy) Sullivan, Kathy (Jonathan Mitchell) Sullivan, Mary (James Kanne) Sullivan, David (Debby) Sullivan, Rich (Linda) Sullivan, Kevin (Dory) Sullivan, Jean (George) Meinz, Betty (Ron) Cramer, Teresa (Bob) Noyes, and countless nieces and nephews.
