Hamilton, Edward "Ed" Vandon
a devoted family man, proud veteran, and esteemed member of the St. Louis community, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024.
Ed was born on April 5, 1934, in St. Louis. He graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory School in 1952 and went on to earn his degree from St. Louis University in 1956.
His commitment to his country led him to join the Air Force after graduating college, where he served with distinction. While in the Air Force he was stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland. It was an adventure that he cherished and recounted for the rest of his life.
Following his military service, Ed embarked on a successful career as an engineer. He began at McDonnell Douglas Automation Company and later concluded his professional journey at Engineered Air Systems, where his expertise and dedication left an indelible mark.
Ed's faith was central to his life. He was a longtime member of St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, a regular visitor to the White House Jesuit retreat, and a staunch supporter of Catholic Charities. He found joy in spending time with his family, vacationing in Door County, WI, and creating lasting memories with those he loved.
On July 6, 1957, Ed married Nancy Bascom, the love of his life, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Patty (John) Crotty, Dan (Margrit) Hamilton, and Susan (Michael) Kime. Ed was a loving grandfather to Tyler (Jessica) Sant, Lauren (Phillip) Faber, Hanna Kime, and Nicholas Kime. His great-grandchildren, Theo, Annabel, Benjamin, and Josie, brought him immense joy and pride.
Edward V. Hamilton will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his service to his country, and his steadfast faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Services: A Funeral Mass to celebrate Ed's life will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Anselm's Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Ed Hamilton was a really good man. Ed was always welcoming to me when I was in STL at MCAUTO. We shared many good "success" stories. I will always remember the quality time I spent with Ed and Nancy in the Virgin Islands after a MCAUTO Sales Incentive
Club. Ed will be remembered as the BEST MCAUTO sales story man. Blessings to Ed, Nancy and all their family. With lots of respect and admiration, Jim and Dianna Ross

We were next door neighbors of Ed and Nancy for several years and so enjoyed them. Our son was a Chaminade graduate and Ed was always asking about him. A finer, more considerable neighbor, as well as a true gentleman, could not be found. I never met a man who so enjoyed driving to Wisconsin in the dead of winter as Ed did. You will be missed.

ED AND I MADE SEVERAL BUSINESS TRIPS TOGETHER WHEN I WAS AT MCAUTO. ONE ONE TRIP, WE WERE BOARDING OUR PLANE TOGETHER AND THE PRETTY STEWARDESS TOOK ONE LOOK AT ED AND SAID "HELLO YOU BIG HANDSOME MAN" AND PASSED ME BY LIKE AN OLD SHOE. I ALWAYS BOARDED SEPERATELY AFTER THAT. HE WAS A FIRST RATE MAN AND THAT'S THE WAY I'VE ALWAYS REMEMBERED HIM. BON VOYAGE OLD FRIEND!

This is Ilene (Pelot) Jones & I was his secretary about a year in 1983? 1984? In McAuto When there was a lot of transition & he reported to Brad Rigdon. I concur, what a WONDERFUL man in every way & I was so lucky to have worked & known him. I remember him coming back from London & raving about seeing "Cats" I believe. Raving about his vacation w family in Sanibel Island. He always had a smile on his face & made my life working as a secretary & trying to finish college to start on a new path so positive. I can see how he impacted so many people in all aspects of the long sacred life he was given. My condolences to the family.

Oh my dear Nancy you have my deepest sympathy. You and Ed were such strong defenders of the faith. Ed will be remembered as the man from Priory who organized the men´s retreat at the White House every year. My husband so enjoyed that. May God keep you strong during this rough time. Love you.
