John Mackie was a fantastic person to work with. We worked together for 11 years at Washington University. I have many fond memories of his great stories and quick wit. He is missed by many - never to be forgotten.

John was a great mentor of the highland bagpipe. He wasn't easy to get instruction from but he taught in the old scottish way, tuff and precise. I learned alot from him. Go and do! Get it right and don't come back until you do. But there was always a soft spot....come back! Thank you John. The piping world will miss you. I will miss you,
Bob.

I had both Keith and John at South High - I remember Keith as my dedicated assistant with audio-visual and Theatre - an amazing person. I remember John as he played the bagpipes for one of our plays. They were dedicated to each other. I am so sorry that I missed Keith's death - so I needed to comment on both of them. I honestly never met finer young men.
