Just learned of John's death and extend condolences to his family. Knew John from NWMSU and feel fortunate to have had him as a friend. Like many of us who drifted apart doing one thing and another am sorry not to have maintained contact but fortunate to have known such a fine guy.

I know this is a bit late adding to the guest book but I only recently learned of John's passing. I played football with John at Northwest MO State and also spent much time with him just goofing around as college boys will do. I haven't seen him since our college days but have thought of him often. I've been guilty of not acting on my thoughts about contacting him and actually making the effort to visit. I regret that now and will keep it in mind when considering other friends. John was a dear friend and a great human being. I am saddened by his passing but also know he's in a better place now. My regards to his family and friends.

I remember John and his parents with much love and affection. He was a dear friend of my sister Katie in college at NWMSU and whenever I came to visit, he and his parents were so warm and friendly. I just adored all three of them and looked forward to seeing them again. I am so sad to hear that he died so young and send my deepest sympathy to his mom and family. I have no doubt he continued bringing happiness to everyone whose lives he touched.

I worked in Staff Services at EVCC in 2007 and my first day on the job I had the great pleasure of meeting John and his great gift of gab. He was the real deal, one of those rare folks that made you feel you'd known him for years. There wasn't one day that I didn't look forward to seeing his smiling face coming through the door. If we listened and watched, this man was a great teacher, always humble and steady as a rock.
Rest in peace my dear friend and may your family and friends be comforted by wonderful memories and that warm smile.

I miss you so much John and was so honored to know you. John worked with me and looked out for me when I was here at the College late. He always offered to walk me to my truck late at night just to be safe. He was also kind enough to offer me one of his microwave dinners anytime I was here late and hungry. We laughed many times together and he was a joy to work with as well as a good friend. I miss your smile John and all the funny conversations. My heart goes out to your friends and dear family who you always spoke so highly of, especially your kids and mom. I always knew how much family meant to you and almost felt like I knew them because of how much you talked about them. I miss saying goodnight to you and waving as I walked out the door every day for the last 5 years. Plus you always wished us all a good weekend, even on a Thursday when you knew you wouldn't see us until Monday. I'll never forget you John. Sincerely, Manja

John, also know to many as Father John, was one of the most amazing people anyone could come across. A caring and supremely personable man who could keep you laughing for hours with his stories, will be missed. I am very saddened by this news, but know he is looking down on all of us with that glowing smile of his. I will miss you!! I have worked with John for the past two years at Everett Community College. He always had wonderful stories to tell about his other jobs he has had, growing up in St. Louis and his family. He and I enjoyed listening to Motown and he would tell me stories about the singers that he knew that grew up around him. He always had a great smile while telling his stories. He had a wonderful personality and a great connection with people. John will be missed here in Everett.

John will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A list of relatives and friends who loved him would be far too long to mention. we will all hold him close to our hearts forever. He made a difference in so many lives and he made me a better person. John, had a story for each occasion. If you already heard one he would have another. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke. A heart of gold and was always helping people out when ever he could. Many friends as I will miss him. (GA gang)

To Johns mother, his children and family, I feel very lucky to have worked with John at Big Five Sporting goods for the last five years . He would make me smile just watching him walk through the door at work. He was a pleasure to work with and was full of detailed stories that he would share. He would talk about his mama, and was so proud of his kids whom he talked about. My boss said that John was the BEST salesman he has ever seen. John could sell anything! I called him "my johnnie". He will be so missed and he loved his entire family so much. I can still see his smile and hear his laugh. I am thankful to have known and worked with him. My heart and prayers go out to his entire family. He will be missed. In sympathy, Dixie Stuart

John was a true friend, classmate and teammate. I remember the first day that was De Smet opened in 1967 and the first guy I met walking in was John. Very sorry to hear of John’s passing. We played football together our senior year at DeSmet. I transferred to DeSmet the latter half of my Junior year. Didn’t know John well but my impression was that he was a straightforward individual and a man of integrity both on and off the field.
