Lohr, Ronald Kurt (RK)
born October 7, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023, surrounded by the love of his immediate family. He was the beloved husband of Dana Lasley Lohr; loving father of Stacey (Robert) Lohr Graves and Sabrina (Christian) Lohr Hartman and the late Jason Kurt Lohr; grandfather or "Coach" to Wilson, Campbell, Harper and Walker Graves and August Hartman; brother to Linda Lohr, Steven (Diana) Lohr and Christy Lohr; loving son of the late Curtis L. Lohr and Jacquelyn (Hellmich) Lohr.
RK graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 1964 and from Arizona State University in 1968, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served honorably in the United States Army Reserves for six years. Upon graduation, he started at Lohr Distributing Company, which was founded by his father, and worked his way up through all positions at the company, to include "bus driver." Along with his brother Steve, they took over as owners in 1980. He was a member of the Anheuser- Busch Wholesalers Panel where he served as President for a term. To his close friends and colleagues, RK was known as the "Beer Man." He was proud of the success of Lohr Wine and Spirits, which he and Steve built, and even more so of his hardworking and dedicated team at Lohr Distributing throughout the years. RK was a generous man who supported many charitable and educational organizations in the St. Louis community.
RK's greatest joys were his three children and five grandchildren and he loved to spoil them. He never missed any sporting event, play, concert or Grandparent day. He was very active in their lives and especially loved to give his semi-professional coaching advice on each and every child's event, always arriving early to scope out the competition.
RK loved spending time on Sanibel Island with Dana and his family. He was lifetime member of Bellerive Country Club and an enthusiastic golfer. RK had hole-in-ones on #3 and #13 at Bellerive. He especially enjoyed competing with Team Alpo vs Team America on many golf trips. But his life-long avocation was aviation, and he spent countless hours at his hangar at Spirit Airport listening to the weekend radio chatter. He inspired and mentored many others with his love of flying and it was this life-long passion that he especially loved to share with Jason. He had many pilot certifications to include hot air balloons. helicopters, sea planes and jets. RK particularly loved his 1953 Piper Supercub, especially when Dana was his weekend co-pilot. Fly Safe, Coach.

Ron,
Bill Laurie here. Sigma Chi ASU. Those of us who were blessed with your comradery and friendship can attest that the world is a lesser place with your departure from this earth. You, your smile, your laugh, will be remembered, as will your dogged and energetic play in the Sigma Chi intramural baseball team. We are all better off for having known you. Our condolences to your family. Go in peace brother.
