Larry Nelson Obituary

Larry George Nelson, age 73, a Fort Myers resident, passed away on November 21, 2021, after a 16 month battle with cancer.

Larry was born on October 12, 1948 in Ortonville, Minnesota to the late Wesley and Avis Nelson. He was a 1966 graduate of Glenwood High School (MN). Larry served in the Minnesota National Guard. He was united in marriage to Catherine Koloski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, Minnesota on June 21, 1968.

Larry owned Precision Drywall Incorporated in Delano for 20 years. He retired from Arrow Building Supply in Watertown in October, 2018.

Larry is survived by his loving family: wife, Catherine; three children: Melissa (Pat) Legg of Belle Plaine, MN, Jennifer (Darren) Schuler of Watertown, MN, and Eric (Holly) Nelson of Francis Creek, WI; nine grandchildren: Stephanie Schuler, Josh Schuler, Zachary Schuler, Benjamin Schuler, Claudia Schuler, Samuel Schuler, Camille Nelson, Cora Nelson, and Grady Nelson; four siblings: Diane (Lu) Abel, Ronald (Kathleen) Nelson, Cheryl (Bill) Capp, Debbie (Kenton) Larsen; mother-in-law, Erna Koloski; brothers-In-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Avis Nelson and father-in-law, Bill Koloski.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Florida.

The family will hold a graveside service at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Watertown, Minnesota at a later date and time.

The family would like to thank special caregivers Johan from Heart Body and Mind Homecare, along with Emmy and the entire Hope Hospice staff.
