Jerry Frandrup Obituary

Jerry F. Frandrup joined the Lord on April 1, 2025, in Arizona at 77 years of age. For 43 years he was a resident of Minnetonka, MN.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Kathy, of 56 years and family of four children, eight grandchildren.

Jerry was born in 1947 to Dorothy and LeRoy Frandrup in Hastings, MN. He truly enjoyed his early childhood there before moving to Prescott, WI on a farm with his eight brothers and two sisters.

After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve, attended UW River Falls and earned a degree in Electronics from Northwestern Electronics Institute. Jerry began his career at Data 100 as a Field Service Engineer and later worked at Northern Telecom, rising to an Executive Vice President, a role that took him and his family across the country.

In 1965, Jerry met the love of his life, Kathy Barnes. They were high school sweethearts and went to Senior prom together in Ellsworth, WI. They went on to have four children: Jason (children Hannah and Jaxon), Justin (Stacie and daughters Josie and Rylie), Angela (Nick and son Aiden), and Brianna (Brandon and children Kepler, Indie and Ronin).

In 2012, Jerry retired and strengthened his role as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Family was everything to him, and he had a gift for making others laugh with his lively and charming sense of humor. He spent his time painting beautiful landscape masterpieces, listening to music, watching movies, reading James Michner books and wrenching on anything broken. He had the aptitude of a mechanical genius and could fix anything-even though at times the way he accomplished it was unique to which we coined, Jerry-rigged. He loved boating on Lake Minnetonka and Jeeping in the Rocky Mountains. He was fortunate enough to buy his third Jeep in his retirement that brought him back to his glory days. We were planning a Jeeping excursion in Colorado, now this trip will serve as a way to celebrate his life and legacy.

Jerry was predeceased in death by his parents LeRoy and Dorothy, and his brothers Butch, David and Gene Frandrup.

Jerry loved the Mountains of the Southwest, which is where the Lord laid him to rest.

Services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 located at St. Therese Church of Deephaven, 18325 Minnetonka Blvd, Wayzata, MN 55391. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, Mass at 11 AM, Luncheon at 12PM, and Celebration of Life to follow at 1 PM located at 15605 Robinwood Dr., Minnetonka, MN 55345. Private Burial, details to follow.
