Mary Nell, I only met John twice, but he certainly seemed like a nice man. I remember the loving way he held the little Yorkie - I relate as I have become so attached to two (the second one in now 14). Sorry for your loss.

Pop Pop will be surely missed. I have fond memories of him taking me to the Capitol as a child of maybe 4 or 5 years old, decked out in my finest suit to meet some of his friends and colleagues. He could keep you hanging on a story and you could never guess the punchline, you always knew it was coming and you knew it would be outrageous, outlandish, funny, with a bit of wit and wisdom. That is what I will miss most about him- sitting around a family gathering just listening and waiting for that moment when everyone would laugh and marvel at his way with words, his care and encouragement, and his devotion to family, goodness, and appreciation for the only thing in life that really matters- the friends and family you make relationships with along the way. I love you Pop Pop. We will all remember you fondly.

Johnny was like a big brother to me growing up next door in Biloxi. He had a tremendous sense of humor that he could weave into good advice about behavioral issues we all faced as kids, even though he was just a few years older than I was. I can still see him with his Dad, Mom and his sisters Kay & Marilyn in my mind as being very much a part of my family. Memories to be warmly cherished, as I'm sure his family feels. He will surely be missed but certainly not forgotten.
