Pirvy Nix, age 94 and a resident of Gulfport, MS, died Saturday, November 27, 2004, in Gulfport.
Mr. Nix was a native of Sapa, MS, and a Coast resident since 1924. He graduated from Harrison Central High School in 1931, and Perkinston Junior College where he played football. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps, and in the U. S. Army as a captain during World War II. Mr. Nix was owner of Geil-Nix Recapping from 1946 to 1976, and retired in 1997 after 20 years as a machinist at Southland Steel.
Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his parents, John Willie and Docia Gordon Nix; brothers, P.O. Nix and J. P. Nix; and sisters, Crena Clayton, Mary Moody, and Beulah Geil.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marvalyne Nix; a daughter, Carolyn Simmons and her husband, Frank, all of Gulfport; grandchildren, Kyle Simmons of Gulfport; Wendi Hill and her husband, Jerry, of Gulfport; Brent Craig and his wife, Tammy, of North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Kara Hill, Kalyn Hill, both of Gulfport; and Shelby Dale Craig, of North Carolina.

Visitation will be at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, Hwy 49 North in Gulfport, on Wednesday, December 1, 2004, from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Gulfport.
