Charles Rippey Obituary

Charles "Chuck" P. Rippey beloved Life Partner of Sigmund Dragastin and father of David (Michele) Rippey, Cheryl "Heidi" Marshall and Laurel Peterson, and grandfather to Matthew and Christopher Rider, died August 5th, 2014 at the age of 83 yrs. He attended Antioch College and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1955, was a legal officer in the U.S. Navy, practiced law in Chicago, was a lawyer for the U.S. Department of Labor, and retired as a Federal Administrative Law Judge in 1996. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John "Jack" Rippey and former wife Anne Edwards. Memorial services will be determined at a later date.

Chuck was an early mentor in Chicago at the DOL. He was very instrumental in my move to Washington and in the career that developed from that move. Chuck and Anne were very welcoming when we moved to Washington after our marriage. I was honored to be his colleague and friend.

IT WAS 59-YEARS AGO THAT I MET CHUCK.IT WAS AT NAVY OCS NEWPORT RI .WE WERE IN SAME COMPANY J-1 AND LEFT AS ENSIGNS IN NOV 1955 TO SEE THE WORLD IN SERVING AS NAVAL OFFICERS.CHUCK WAS A MOST PLEASANT FELLOW ALWAYS SMILING AND I'M SURE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY. RIP CHUCK
