i still miss doc! the only one where the mold was cracked after making him one. no other replacements for him either. he had passed down the practice carefully to his predecessor, insuring good flight surgeon skills and personality. now on a generation two replacement, i am still happy his legacy carries on. regardless. i still miss you doc!

the BEST flight surgeon in south Florida! you are truly missed and still talked about. that is a legacy! your replacement, who you broke in so well has also passed away suddenly. your third generation flight surgeon is also pretty good. doc, you still live on.

I still remember when he was with a pilot (patient?) for too long, the office manager / nurse would blow a wooden train whistle to speed things up. Once I brought my own train whistle, and it created lot's of laughter among the waiting pilots.
My last FAA physical with Dr George was 5 Dec 2013, a few months before his passing. I remember his son brought him to the office. My first FAA physical with him was 5 Jan 2004.

For many years, I received my FAA medical from Dr. George (as he was known in the South Florida aviation community). On one occasion – specifically 20 Dec 1995, just a day after a Chalks Ocean Airways Turbine Mallard crashed (due to fatigue of the main spar with all souls lost) after taking-off from the Miami Harbor shipping channel, he told me that just a few days earlier he had given a physical to one of the pilots. He was quite sad about the situation. Since he flew as a naval aviator, he told me that North Perry Airport (KHWO) was originally designed by the Navy with a cartwheel runway pattern because Navy pilots could not land in cross-winds. I'm sure a tall tale.

George and his brother Bob were both great doctors. They served Ft. L very well for many years. They never seemed to have an enemy. God Bless both of them.

this is one guy who i will miss. he had an impact on my life not only as my FAA ME, just shooting the breeze and solving the world's problems (and some of mine) until his nurse would beat on the door reminding doc that he has more people to see. i suspect she has a disability claim for repeated hand impacts to that same door several times daily! because of him, i don't want to retire either. doc is the inspiration to keep driving on into your nighties just like he did loving life and people. you've gone west doc so save me a seat at the cloud one aviator's bar and grill.....first night rounds are on me. 46 years ago Dr Perraud said to me as a child "you would make a good Doctor". For the last 34 years I have tried to be as good a doctor possible. I think his love of people is what made him such a good doctor. Thank you Dr Perraud, your love of people made thas a better world.

Dr.Perraud was my Dr from the time I was 2 yrs old. He came to our House when I was 3 on Christmas Eve because I was so Sick and again when I was 9 when I was attacked by a dog on a Sunday and had to be taken to Doctor's Hospital and Dr George Perraud again came to the rescue and stitched me up on my Backside. So So many times Dr. Perraud was there for our Family. And then I had a Son and the Cycle continued again. You were a Great Dr and will be missed. But I have to admit that White Coat you alway's wore scared me as a kid Lol. Rest in Peace.

Dr Peraud was an iconic figure for commercial aviation folks in South Florida. Just about everyone I knew who resided in this area and worked for the airlines or had my licenses checked for jump seat privileges and was from here had Docs signature on their certificate. I will miss him. My condolences to his entire family..

One of my earliest memories of you was the day my family had to lay my dear grandma to rest. I was 12 years old and as expected that was a very hard day for me. You stood by my side an comforted me explaining that we all need to have faith and belief that we will all meet again. You assured me that there is a heaven and my grandma wasn't dead she simply left the earth to prepare for us to meet again. From that day on you were one of my favorite people. You truly helped me overcome one of the hardest moments in my life. I never thanked you for that which I regret. Today we layed you to rest one of the most admirable men I have ever met. You love Lilly so much that you have raised the standard in my eyes as to how a man should love their wives. Dr George you were such an amazing boss, friend and father figure in my life. Thank you so much for always loving and taking care of my mom and also for helping to raise me. The last 9 years working with you was so much fun. The endless jokes and your sarcasm is already missed. I'll miss you yelling at me about putting the toilet paper on wrong as well as your hour long bathroom trips. For nearly 20 years, Dr. George was the doctor my late husband received his FAA medicals from. I accompanied him twice and had that good, home-town, comfortable feeling with him and his staff. I had previously worked in the medical field and can spot great "bedside manner" in a flash. Dr George definitely had it! I had heard about the train whistle signaling that time with the doctor had reached its limit, and chuckled when I heard it sound. What a unique memory!
My husband died while at the controls of a commercial airplane. Our oldest son, then 14, already had his sights set on becoming a pilot and had flown a few flights. When it came time to get his first FAA medical for a student pilot, Dr. George was the obvious choice. In respect for my husband and their mutual love of aviation, Dr. George gave my son his medicals for free. His kindness in doing this spoke volumes and was a real blessing to us.
During all these years, I have admired Dr. George's long-lasting personal and professional work ethic. He had a positive impact on so many, and will be missed greatly. Our family sends you our heartfelt condolences and prayers. May your many wonderful memories of his love and legacy be treasures that bring you comfort. God bless you all.

Dr. George signed my Student Pilot Certificate 37 years ago, right up to my latest 1st Class Medical. I saw no one else in my flying career. He always greeted you with a big smile and "What are you flying now!?" Dr. George was truly one of the friendliest men I have had the pleasure of meeting and seeing for the majority of my life. His friendly advice was always the best. The famous train whistle has blown one last time for you my friend. Dr. George, God Bless, you will be missed.

My visits to Dr. George are some of my best memories throughout my flying career. A doctor's doctor who always met you with a smile a story and great advise.

It is with admirable sadness my wife Debbie and I grieve the passing of "Doctor George." My aviation career with Pan Am and FedEx brought me to recurrently visit him and his staff for he last 25 years. Changes through the years gave the opportunity to meet fantastic people such as Dr. Bob, Georges' brother, Staff assistants Joan, Barbara, Anna and son Bruce. I saw an office relocate and watch this aviation medical office gracefully age with time until the torch was passed to Dr. Ed. Antosek.
The unyielding march through time was a theme of many discussions with Dr. Perraud over the years. Conversing with the doctor until the train whistle blew was as important to his flight physical as ones vital signs.
Dr. George convinced me to start use of statins and supplements and I am fortunate he took the interest to do so. But for him, I would not have the favorable metabolic status I enjoy today. I clearly remember during one physical after trying to lower cholesterol by diet and exercise he looked at me and said, " I am 80 years old," recited the list of meds he used. Then he commented, " now do you want to live as long as me or not!" Obviously that was ten years ago and yes I would love to enjoy the longevity Dr. Perraud sustained.
This is a man from the greatest generation who I admire due to his work ethic, respect, unyielding vision for the future. He never wanted to retire and didn't want anyone else to either. That drive to continue is the essence of the greatest generation and notable for those who follow. As recently as Dec. 2013 he was planning his comeback through the use of stem cell technology.
I am honored to have been patron of his aviation medical practice. He was clearly a inspiration for a middle age pilot such as myself or the first visit student pilot.
Dr. George took care of many in his life time. He certainly took care of the pilots of south Florida and while he will be missed his 90 year life is no doubt one to celebrate.

These past six months have been the most memorable and fulfilling of my medical career. It was truly a gift to work with Dr. Perraud. His professionalism, loyalty, and generosity to all who encountered him over the past 90 years will be his enduring legacy for his family, friends, patients, and colleagues.
George, Thank You for your friendship! Your unlimited list of stories and jokes will be cherished memories!
