Jason Swartzbaugh Obituary

Swartzbaugh , Jason Blackford, Jr., 84, of Pompano Beach, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007. Born in Toledo, OH, he moved to south FL in 1952, with his family. As an engineering consultant with his company, Swartzbaugh Manufacturing, he built thousands of aluminum ventilation products while helping pioneer many building code changes. Prior appointments included Executive Director of Information Services in Miami, FL, Vice President of ADP in Rome, GA, Sales Manager of Hurricane Fan Co. in Opa-Locka, FL and Vice President at Miller Industries in N. Miami, FL. After manufacturing, he became a commercial real estate broker/salesman with Kester Brothers Realty in Pompano. He was educated at Howe Military School in Indiana, Duke University and University of NC where he joined Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Jason served in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII and was a member of the K. of C., American Legion, Kiwanis and the S. FL Hibiscus Society. His interest in genealogy led to his assistance in writing a 300 page book on his family history. This book titled "The Swartzbaugh Family in America" verified admission to The Sons & Daughters of The American Revolution, and is now in the U.S. Library of Congress. Survived by a daughter, Susan Hutter; sons, Thomas, Jason & Robert; sister, Besse Thompson; brother, Peter; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and foster son, Andres Gonzales.
