Jo Rita Crooks (As I knew her)
214 - 16 E Maple Street
Jeffersonville, IN
Years - 1938 plus
My Dad's funeral home was acroos the street from the Crooks residence
The Bullingtons lived next door to the funeral home - Combs & Scott. As a matter of fact, Bubby Bullington gave me the information that allowed me to write this epistle.
Mary K, John, Zeta Ruth, Jo, Patty, and Sissy, (the baby was nor born yet I think) were in almost constant contact with each otherl.
There was a double swing set in their back yard where we all met to think and play.
One of Jo's best friends, Betty Munchof, lived just around the corner on Locust Street.
We used to go to the LeRose Theatre to see movies. I would always try to find where Jo Rita sat so I could be close. I was madly in love with her - 13 years old.
We all were in the Jeff High School class of 1944 - graduated together.
Jo was a great person and a beautiful girl. She will always be missed by many - especially by me.

We were very saddened to learn of Jo-Jo's passing. She was a dear lady and always had a smile and warm greeting for us when we saw her at Mass at St. Coleman's. God bless you all and comfort you at this difficult time.

To Mark, Danny, Laura, Vincent, Karen and grandchildren,
My special memory of your mother was when she was 15 years old and living on Maple St. in Jeffersonville, IN. Joey, my aunt and her cousin, Clara Louise Bullington along with a lady friend called Marsha Sader traveled to Niagra Falls, NY. Just outside Washington DC your mom got a foreign object in her eye. Everyone tried to remove it, but to no avail. They decided to try to find a doctor to remove it. After a lengthy pursuit of a physician they were able to find a doctor. Finally, Joey's eye was healed and all of the travelers were able to continue their vacation to the Falls.
I have many memorable recollections of Joey which would fill an entire book.
Love and Prayers to her family, Sincerely, The David Williams Family

Dear Laura,
Her smile. That's what I always think of when I think of your mom. And her kindness...and how proud your mom was of you and Karen and your brothers.

Mark, Danny, Laura, Vincent, Karen and grandchildren. You have my families deepest sympathy. Your mom was a special lady who touched the lifes of all of us. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to apprecitate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. My favorite things to remember your Mom by are her wit and beauty.
Love you all

Mark, Danny, Vincent, Laura, Karen & the Grandchildren,
May we offer our deepest sympathy to your entire family.
Growing up as a child with your Mother a close part of my life was a blessing. There are so many great memories. I will never forget the time we were driving to the store and Kenny Rogers was playing on the radio, she turned to me and said, Is he singing about a Reverend Bluejeans?". I just laughed so hard and told her no, Aunt Joey, it is "Forever in Bluejeans". Everytime I heard that song since, I thought of her.
I am so greatful for our wonderful family and all the gatherings we have had. As children, we do not always realize how precious all those moments really are.
We Love You All,
Stephanie

I am sending my deepest sympathy to your entire family & friends. Miss Joey talked of all of with such love & admiration. As a mother, sister, grandmother and friend she is already missed. Joey was very special to me, we had some fun times, serious times, but is was always good times. We prayed, we laughed and we even have cried together. I know she's in heaven reunited with her husband she still missed. May the God of Peace send the Great Comforter to you all now at this difficult time. May He fill you each with the perfect Peace that can only come from Him, I love you Joey and I'll see you on the flip side. Mary, Angel Hair
