Robyn Pesicek Obituary

On March 12, 2022, Robyn Lyn Pesicek (nee Ridinger) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Robyn is affectionately referred to as "Birdie" and "Grandma Birdie" by her family and grandchildren. Whether it was the warm home she and her dedicated husband Glenn made in Coral Springs where they welcomed friends and family for countless celebrations, gatherings around the fire pit and pool parties, her "road home" - a minivan in which she toted her children and countless others across the State of Florida to various events, or her work home where her office was a place she and her colleagues shared coffee and stories – home is what those who love and know Birdie most associate with her.

Despite Birdie's twin brother's best efforts, his friend Glenn began dating Birdie during their time at Ohio University and they married shortly after she graduated. During their more than 46 years of marriage, Birdie and Glenn were best friends, completely devoted to one another and - much to their three children's feigned horror - still held hands.

Birdie and Glenn started their family on Zupancic Drive in Garrettsville, Ohio where they shared diaper drying lines, oversized sandboxes, enormous picnic tables and many memories with neighbors who became lifelong cherished friends.

In 1988 they packed up the van and moved to Coral Springs, which has been their home for more than 30 years. With her twin brother Scot Ridinger, his wife Vicki, and her sister Jill Ridinger close by, Birdie and Glenn devoted themselves to their family and community. It was here that Birdie spent countless hours in the stands cheering for the teams Glenn coached and for which her children played, selling concession stand pizza and hot dogs at games, supervising car washes, hosting sleepovers and attending the First Church Coral Springs. Once her children graduated high school, she said, "no more Friday nights on a hard bench!" Glenn hung up his coach's whistle and they spent their time with family and friends, biking scenic trails, enjoying their lovely pool, visiting the beach, spoiling their pets, and volunteering at church.

Professionally, Robyn taught at a school for students with special needs and then a small rural elementary school in Ohio. She then went on to become a speech and language pathologist at Coconut Creek High School where she bettered the lives of countless students and formed long-lasting friendships. She then transferred to Coral Glades High School where she was the ESE specialist until she retired. Her love, care, and advocacy for her students and their families were without bounds.

Robyn Lyn Pesicek (nee Ridinger) was born in Youngstown, Ohio on February 4, 1953 to Dr. Wayne and Martha Ridinger who raised Robyn and her siblings in Boardman, Ohio. Robyn is survived by her loving husband, Glenn; daughter, Kristen Joy; son, Scot Joseph, his wife Yen and their children Alicia and Bria; son, Gregory James, his wife Amanda and their children, Braxton, Holden and Nora; her brother Kim and his wife Nancy; her twin brother Scot and his wife Vicki; and her sister Jill and her husband Robert Martin.

A memorial service will be held at First Church Coral Springs on March 26, 2022 at 11:00 am. Family and friends will gather at Robyn's and Glenn's home for fellowship in celebration of our beloved Birdie.

Robin was loved by all.
The most popular girl in my class at BHS as well as the prettiest.
I loved reading about her husband & family,
her friends, the gathering's
& her life in general & her obvious faith.
No doubt
she will be missed by all.
Her high school friend,

Glen and family, I am heartbroken learning of Robyn´s passing. Over the years we shared many stories, lunches and workshops. Robyn touched the lives of so many including teachers, students, administrators, and parents.Robyn has always been a bright spot for so many. She found the positive in every situation, her attitude and infectious smile made life better. Although we are all saddened at her passing, I know that she has her wings and is watching over you her beloved family.

Glen and Robyn's Family, (Kim, Scot and Jill),
I am so sad to hear of Robyn's death. We were good friends in high school and shared many great memories in high school and at The Boardman-Canfield Swim Club. I first met Robyn at the swim club and we became fast friends. Robyn was loved by so many people everywhere. She was extremely popular, that I used to tell her she was like a "rock star!!" Even tho we lost touch many years ago, I never forgot her. Robyn's family welcomed me into their home and I always loved being at their house. Robyn and I got into our share of trouble and Wayne and Marty were always there for us...to let us know what we did wrong and to learn from it!! Robyn always had many "suitors" but I knew when she met Glen...he was the one. I was in their wedding and I also remember that beautiful day (it rained at the church but did not rain at home where the out door reception was being held)!! I regret losing touch. I mailed Robyn a 65th birthday card but not sure she got it...you know how the mail can be!! I only wish I would have followed up. "Robyn, I will never forget you. Give your parents a hug for me!!"
