Dagogo Dappa Obituary

Dagogo William Dappa MONTICELLO - Dagogo William Dappa, 52, a self-employed accountant and certified financial planner, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Norton Dappa. The service will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at St. Phillip AME Church, 08 Phillips Road in Monticello, with burial in Nigeria at a later date. The Rev. John F. White II is pastor and Evangelist Karey Freeman will officiate. Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. EST Sunday at Tillman Funeral Home in Monticello (997-5553), and from 9:30 a.m. EST Monday until the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Victory Fellowship, Youth Ministry, 2302 Jim Lee Road, Tallahassee, FL 32301, or to St. Phillip AME Church, Youth Ministry, 08 Phillips Road, Monticello, FL 32344. Mr. Dappa was the owner of Dappa and Associates, an accounting and financial consulting and planning firm. He earned his BA degree in accounting from Youngstown State University in Ohio. He later completed the requirements for his MBA at Governors State University in University Park, Ill. He attained designation in Certified Financial Planning. Mr. Dappa was an active member of the International Association for Financial Planning. Other survivors include four sons, Anthony Datubo Dappa and Daniel Dienya Dappa, both of Bethel Park, Pa., Shontel Reddick (and wife Tonya) of Tampa and Reginald Reddick of Monticello; a granddaughter, Samiya Reddick of Tampa; his mother, Annette Dappa of Port Harcourt, Nigeria; four sisters, Inyingi Dappa of Abuja, Nigeria, Ibiene Dappa of Port Harcourt, and Barrister Soprinye Bell-Gam and Data Awuda, both of Lagos, Nigeria; and a brother, Adunye Dappa of Lagos, Nigeria. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Dagogo Dappa and his father, the retired Honorable Justice William Doctor Dappa.

I was truly saddened to learn of the passing of William. He was a very caring and compassionate person. He helped me during my campaign for public office in 1992. For that I shall forever be grateful. May your family find comfort in knowing that he cared about his fellow man and that is a very special quality to have.
