Sylvester Jones Obituary
Tallahassee, FL - Sylvester Jones, 63, of Tallahassee finished his earthly course on Monday, May 17, 2021. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of New Hickory Hill P.B. Church, Highway 12, Tallahassee, with burial in New Hickory Hill Cemetery. For more than 36 years, Syl worked for Ajax Construction, rising to the position of Superintendent. He was an ordained deacon at New Hickory Hill and a devoted family man. He leaves his love to his wife of 41 years, Fredrico Williams Jones; sons: Sylvester (Jenelle) and Jeremiah Jones; niece raised as a daughter, Tiffany (Tykee) Thompson; grandchildren: London and Landon Jones; those who were like grandchildren: Sheneka and Michelle King, Kendria Strong, Sherica Reynolds and Trinity Clark; brothers: Thomas (Sandra) Jones and Bobby (Alicia) Jones; sisters: Ruby Lee Dickey, Gloria (Andrew Sr.) Brown, Evangelist Ella (Canary Sr.) Knight, Joan (Kenneth Sr.) Strong; and a host of other relatives and friends. Syl was predeceased by his son, Joshua, parents, John Henry and Marie Wilson Jones; siblings: James, John Henry, Jr., Roosevelt and Jean Jones.

I still can't believe you slipped away but I know Our God doesn't make mistakes. Our last word we spoke, "I'm going to be okay Elder", and I said, "Okay Deacon Sly". I'm truly going to miss our lunch break conversations! As Deacon Gay said, "Servant of God Well Done". The New Hickory Hill family will truly miss you.

Sylvester was a very pure hearted person who always somehow found a way to lighten the mood in the room and make everybody laugh. There's not many people that can do his job at such a high level and make it look as effortless as he did. Thank you for all of the lessons learned from you and the laughter we shared. I miss you already, but you will forever remain in my memories.

I knew Sylvester through my husband, Larry Wilkes. Larry worked with Sylvester at Ajax Building Corporation for many years. He considered him a dear friend and a sincere and honest person that could always be depended on. He had great respect for Sylvester, as did all of his coworkers. He was a good man and will be deeply missed. Rest In Peace Sylvester.
