Andrew Smith Obituary

SMITH, Andrew R. "Drew" 19, of Clearwater, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008. Andrew's life would seem short by many, but those whom he touched understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quality of time in which one lives. His gentle smile and clear blue eyes could melt the heart of those around him. His quick wit and sense of humor made people laugh. Andrew cherished his family and loved his friends. He spent his days surrounded by an extraordinary group of young people who provided him with love and support. He loved tennis, golf, skiing and music. With Andrew's passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him everyday, especially his love of laughter and easy smile he will always live on in our hearts. Andrew is survived by his loving parents, John and Sandra Smith; and his sister, Jillian Beth Smith; his paternal grandmother, Rita Smith and his maternal grandmother, Joanne Arbogast. He also leaves behind a large circle of aunts, uncles and cousins from Massachusetts. Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 from 4-8 pm at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home-NE St. Petersburg, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 200 - 78th Ave. N.E., St. Petersburg. A reception will follow the church service at Feather Sound Country Club, 2201 Feather Sound Dr., Clearwater. Donations in honor of Andrew can be made to the following: Raymond James for Courier Kids, 650-18th Ave. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33705; Joshua House Foundation, P.O. John and Sandra, please accept our sincerest condolences. We are just so pained over your loss...As parents, you never imagine that you will outlive your children, it just goes against the natural order of things. We just want you to know how deeply sorry we are and that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We pray that one day, you will find some peace in knowing that the love you gave Andrew while he was here with you is a treasured and unique love that surpasses the amount of love most people receive in a lifetime.
