Williams Homegoing celebration for Mr. Jesse James Williams Lowrey, who passed away on Dec. 29, 2014, will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at 11 am, First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Rev. Dr. Evan Burrows, officiating. Interment will be Florida National Cemetery. Jesse was born Dec. 7, 1939 in Luverne, AL, to the late M.C. Lowery and Earlean Long. Jesse was a soldier for Christ, a bowler and a great husband, dad and granddad. He was preceded in death by sisters, Sally Roper and Nita Lowery; and brothers, W.C. Lowery and Glen Lowery. He leaves to cherish his memories with wife, LaDonna Mitchell Lowrey; children, Veronica Staley, Vernard Staley, Stacy Mitchell, Vivian Lowrey, Jesse K. Lowrey and Alandrea (Ally) Lowrey; grandchildren, Shynita, Shyqueta, Eugene, Brieanna, Brianna, Shakeira, Kiara, Sayvion, Olivia and Jayden; great-grandchildren, William, DeShaunte, Keontae, Emoii, Jy'Asia, Jaydn and LeRon; sisters, Omie Staley, Olean Dawson and Eva (Percy) Hubbard; relatives & friends. The visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of College Hill, Friday, Jan. 9, from 5-8 pm. The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm.
