Julian Clarkson Obituary

CLARKSON, Julian Derieux, 74, retired attorney-at-law and one time resident of Tampa, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at his home in Fort Myers. Born in Coral Gables, Florida on March 12, 1929, Mr. Clarkson lived in Tampa from 1977 to 1982. He joined Holland & Knight in 1977 as a senior partner in first their Tampa and later Tallahassee office until his retirement in 1993. The son of Julian Livingston Clarkson and Hazel Lamar Starnes, Mr. Clarkson is survived by two sons, James Lewis, Fort Myers and Julian Lamar, Sarasota; three daughters, Joanna Clarkson Dansby, Parkland; Melinda Clarkson Isley, Fort Myers, and S hirley Lamar Clarkson, New York City; one brother, the Honorable Hugh E. Starnes, Fort Myers; three sisters, Hazel Clarkson Hough, St. Peters- burg, Marjorie Starnes and Suzanne Starnes Santamaria, both of F ort Myers; a step brother, Dr. Frank M. Bryan, Fort Myers; and four grand- children. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 2635 Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Lawton Chiles Foundation, an organization established to improve children's lives, at 1812 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
