Lucy Bragg Obituary

BRAGG, Lucy S. 58, of Tampa, passed away at a peaceful beach home on Aug. 4, 2008, under the loving care of her family after a brave 2 year battle with cancer. Lucy will be warmly remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends. Her passion and talent for creating beautiful jewelry using mediums such as beads, metal, and glass was also always a very significant aspect of her character. She was a native of Rowayton, CT, and lived there with her husband and children before moving to Tampa in 1987. A graduate of Endicott Junior College, she also lived for several years in both the Boston area, where she met her husband, as well as in the Washington, DC area, where her children were born. She is survived by Andrew A. Bragg, her husband of 32 years; her son, David D. Bragg, of New York; her daughter, Cara C. Bragg, of Tampa; her brothers, George G. Schwartz, of Hingham, MA and James J. Schwartz, of Ridgefield, CT; and her dog, Rumble, as well as mother-in-law Mary D. Bragg; sisters-in-law Martha Schwartz, Catherine Lanier and Ella Schwartz; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Bragg and Edward Bragg; cousin, Gabrielle Schang; aunt Paula Valentine; and 15 nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Drive in Tampa at 2 to 4 pm on Monday, Aug. 11, followed by a memorial service at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Moffitt Cancer Center or Hyde Park Art Studio (please make checks payable to "Friends of Tampa Parks & Recreation" and send to Katharine Herbert c/o City of Tampa Parks & Recreation, 1420 North Tampa St. Tampa, FL 33602). My condolences to the Bragg Family. Lucy is now at peace, but take heart she will always be watching from above and smiling. My daughter Jennifer and Cara went to elementary school together and that's how I knew Lucy.
