Pauline ROPHIE Obituary
91, Clearwater, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, January 18, 2019. Mrs. Rophie was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 9, 1927 to the late Salha and Ralph Bobo. After living for several years in Macon, GA and New York, NY, her family settled in Tampa in 1947. She married Albert (Abdo) Rophie in September of 1948 and started a family. The Rophie family moved from Tampa to Clearwater in 1960 where they had the Bobo & Rophie clothing store downtown and later Rophie Shoes. Pauline was a member of Congregations Beth Shalom and B'nai Israel in Clearwater for many years. She loved to travel, shop, and most of all spend time with her family. Cooking their favorite foods and having everyone together for Friday night dinner each week brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert (Abdo); as well as her siblings, Eli Bobo, Rachel Marcadis, Sammy Bobo and Emma Breslaw. Survivors include her four children, Cecilia (Alberto) Betech, Cheryl (Jeffrey) Cohen, Alan (Sharon) Rophie, and Ralph Rophie; 11 grandchildren, Emilio Betech, Sofia Betech, Alex (Galia) Betech, Pamela (Aaron) Behar, Adam (Kim) Cohen, Andrew Rophie, Rebecca Rophie, Vicki (Lee) Koenig, Tony (Ben) Rophie, Albert Rophie, and Benjamin Rophie; 12 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Adela, Alberto, Mauricio, Sari, Lila, Jake, Jaden, Emma, Paul, Nora and Owen; sister, Latifa Cohen; brother, Ezra "Zue" (Gloria) Bobo; sisters-in-law, Chella Bobo and Rieva Bobo; and brothers-in-law, Sam Marcadis and Jerry Breslaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. She treasured her family and made a difference in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 21, 2 pm at the Old Rodeph Sholom Cemetery, 3602 N. Ola Ave.
