Sharkey COLLINS Obituary

COLLINS, Sharkey Sr.

83, of Sun City Center formerly of Riverview, entered into rest March 17, 2016. Sharkey was a union Boilermaker Local 433. He enjoyed gardening, plants, taking care of his nursery, dancing, and traveling. Sharkey was a member of De Soto Masonic Lodge No. 105 and Egypt Temple Shrine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Sue Collins. Survivors include his sons, James M. Collins, Sharkey Collins Jr., Ronald Gene Collins; daughter, Nancy Lyon; grandsons, James M. Collins Jr., Steven Vaughn, Ronald Gene Collins Jr., Ryan Kennedy Collins; great-grandchildren, Ronald Gene Collins III, Summer Collins, Daniel Wright, Kayleb Wright; sisters, Molly Lawson, Scottie Collins Williams; companion, Janet Doherty. A graveside service will be held 3 pm Saturday, March 26, in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to De Soto Masonic Lodge No 105 in Sharkey's memory. Please sign Sharkey's guestbook at:

Sharkey was a kind, fun loving man whom I enjoyed dancing with. He made me feel good about myself. He complimented others and smiled as he danced. A joy to be around. RIP. He spoke of how he deeply missed his wife and of her painful death. A wonderful, caring man. Heaven will surely welcome him!

Sharky will be missed by many. I always loved seeing his smile, his jokes and his passion for life. Especially on Friday nights at Latitudes when he would dance with all the pretty ladies. He was a fantastic man !

I was fortunate to have been cared for by the Collins Family in my youth. Mr. Collins was one of two role models for me.
