Walt was a very special friend that I discovered about 25 years ago. I found out he was related to Julius Poff and Father Pius Poff who lived in St Joe, Indiana and where I parents purchased land and built a home back in 1963. We had many memorable discussions of his days there in St. Joe and his time living on the Knobs. Walt helped me with a number of Hillsborough County School track projects where paint markings were a problem and for that I will always appreciate this time professionally sharing his great corrosion knowledge. But what was most important to our time together was his strong belief in God. That was a beacon I needed in my life and will always pray for him. Rest in Peace Walt.

Walt Poff was a fantastic father figure and a great man. I was lucky enough to be friends with his son Pat and witness Walt's grace and skill up close. I will never forget the time we test drove a car when Pat and I were so eager to get behind the wheel at 16 years old. Long story short, we ended up in a ditch on that test drive due to inexperienced driving, and Walt handled it calmly and with superior grace as he explained from the passenger seat what not to do when driving (as all three of us sat at a 45 degree angle to the right in that car in the ditch). Funny moment but grace under pressure personified Mister Poff.

I first met Walt's smile over 30 years ago after becoming good friends with his son Pat. Behind Walt's smile was an inner confidence of Faith that permeated through every interaction I had with him and his family. Our family has been blessed to have benefited from our many times together watching football and basketball games, always learning some life lessons along the way. The legacy he's had speaks for itself, and I know his love for God is what will live on through his family.

Mr. Poff is a wonderful man - a Godly man with a big heart and a bigger smile. His legacy is his children and grandchildren. And they are an awesome legacy to leave behind. In this crazy world we need more Poff's in our lives. Thank you for leaving us your legacy, Mr. Poff. The world is a better place because of people like YOU.

Love you, Grandpa.
Bamboo poles and bluegill, with hooks and balls of bread.
Golf, McDonalds, family gatherings and music.
Chess, hugs and always supporting me.
Never could beat you in Ping Pong- we'll have to have a rematch later.
It'll be one for the ages.
Until then!

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Our favorite memory is us & Poffs driving Pat & our son to soccer games. Walt always carried extra warm-up jackets in case anyone got cold. Rest in peace dear friend. God has another Angel on his team.
