William Crean Obituary

CREAN, William G. "Bill," 73, of Trinity, Fla., passed away June 23, 2008, at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center after a yearlong battle with leukemia. He grew up in the South Side of Chicago, where he met and married his wife of 51 years, Marge, and started working three jobs to support his new family. Bill became vice president of Colonial Penn Insurance Co. and CNA Insurance Co., where he worked for a total of 40 years. Though always hardworking, he found time to stay close with all of his family and his community. He was always the "rock" that his wife, children, and any family member or friend could rely on for counsel and support, with a healthy dose of good humor to boot. Bill was an active member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church and the American Brittany Rescue. He and Marge adopted and fostered a number of pets throughout the years. (Brittanys Tobey and Phoebe are the current four-legged family members.) Bill is survived by his wife, Marge; children, Diane Crean, Steve Crean and wife, Maureen, and Bob Crean; grandchildren, Erin Hartwell, Ryan Kincade-Crean and Sean Kincade-Crean; sister, Donna Peterson, and husband, Gary; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless members of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, who showered Bill and Marge with unconditional love and support throughout this difficult year. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Crean, and sister, Susan Jolley. Bill' s memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12069 Memorial Drive, New Port Richey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, or to the American Brittany Rescue at www.americanbrittany-rescue.org (Tobey and Phoebe will thank you!)

Marge and Family,
I'm saddened by the news of Bill's passing.
I also worked with him at CP for many years. As others have noted, he also taught me many things and one of the greatest was Delegate..... Delegate. One of my fondest memories was the Halloween he showed up dressed as the "Pope". A good sport and kind man will be always be remembered.
My deepest sympathy to you all.

Marge, I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I also worked with Bill at Colonial Penn. He set an example for all of us to follow. At times he challenged us to dig deep and look outside the box and it's that insight of his that I remember most of all. He knew how to get the best out of people. I also remember what a great family man he was. His love for his family was reflected in his devotion to you and the kids and grandkids. He was a big man in stature as well as in spirit. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Marge,
Art and I have such fond thoughts of Bill and the really nice time we had at the Florida State Faire last February. Bill enjoyed that Strawberry Shortcake so much I think he could have eaten more if we weren't getting ready to leave.
Bill was very special in that he always had a positive view on life. He was fun to be around because of that and the super big smile he always wore. We believe that The Lord was waiting for Bill with open and loving arms.

We didn't get to know Bill but he was part of our ABR family. Our condolences and prayers go out to Bill's family and friends. He had to be a good guy. Brittanies choose only the best. Looks to us that he was a " South Side Irishman" all the way. That is a term of endearment here where we live.

Marge - Bill was a very special person. I only knew him as an ABR volunteer, but I'm sure the qualities that made him so important to us were seen throughout the other parts of his life. I don't know all our volunteers, there are too many of them. But Bill stood out as one of the great ones. He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Marge and family,
Bill was a truly fine person, that I enjoyed working with at Island Gulf, since my fathers passing. My father considered Bill a friend, and was one of those people that you always heard people say nice things about.
As a friend, I will miss him more then I care to think about.
It is a true honor to those of us that loved him, to have known him. He will be missed by all, but I am sure he will be missed by his family the most.
When my father passed, I remember all of the words of love for him, and it has helped me enjoy my father even more after his passing. All I can really say is to always remember the good memories, of which there are many, and accept the well wishers condolences. Your strong support and love, was enjoyed by Bill, and it radiated from him.
My love and prayers for you and your family.
Richard
