Jane Holland Obituary

Jane Holland

A feisty, brilliant, and caring soul, left this world on June 21, 2025, at the age of 80, following a long illness. In her final moments, she was comforted by her beloved wife and the compassionate staff at Taos Senior Living and Anvoi Hospice, where love surrounded her like a warm embrace. Born on January 12, 1945, in the charming town of Andover, Massachusetts, Jane's spirited nature blossomed early on. She made her mark as her high school's best 4'11" basketball player, demonstrating that heart and determination know no bounds. Her journey through education and service was nothing short of remarkable. Jane earned her LVN and RN licenses before serving her country as an Air Force nurse. Her career took her to various locations, including Blytheville, Arkansas, the Philippines, Washington, D.C., and Pease AFB in New Hampshire. After a brief period working at the VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, Jane and her partner, Mickey, embarked on an 18-month adventure in England, where they embraced travel and Jane took an interest in her artistic talents. Upon returning to San Antonio,Jane continued her education, cultivating a passion for both art and counseling. She earned a Master's degree in counseling and later a PhD in Counselor Education from Mississippi State University. Jane's love for teaching flourished during her 12 years at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she was celebrated with multiple Teaching Excellence Awards. Her students adored "Dr. Jane," who brought lessons to life with colorful real-life stories, filling her classroom with laughter and fostering deeper understanding. In 2005, Jane married Mickey Brady in a beautiful ceremony in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The couple later moved to Questa, New Mexico, where Jane practiced counseling at Casa de Corazon for a few years. Jane's creative spirit thrived in her free time as she explored the joys of watercolor painting, fiber arts, and show jumping with horses. Her adventures around the globe inspired her work, bringing a vibrant perspective to everything she did. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Caroline Holland, and her sister, Roberta. She leaves behind a loving wife, cousins Helen and Bill, Howard and Maureen, Linda, and their families. While no formal services are planned, the legacy of Jane Holland's kindness, brilliance and zest for life will resonate with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
