David Jackson Obituary

David Jackson Jr., 81, died Feb. 19, 2012. He was born in Mannville and lived in Indian River County for the most of his life, moving to Gifford from Palatka at an early age. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Bethune-Cookman College with a bachelor of science degree in social science. He was employed as a chef before being hired as an attendance officer for Indian River County schools, where he worked for 31 years before retiring in 1994. Survivors include his daughters, Janice Jackson Wilson and Jennifer Jackson Poitier; son, Alvin Jackson; sisters, Geneva Jackson Dixon, Carolyn Jackson Franklin and Rachel Jackson Pinkney; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blevins Stanton Jackson; and daughter, Mary Wynette Jackson. Services: Visitation and a wake will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Gifford. A service will at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Central Assembly of God. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery. A guestbook is available at www.stonebrothersfuneralhome.com.
