Marshall Wolf Obituary

Marshall Lea Wolf

Vero Beach

Marshall Lea Wolf, 88, of Vero Beach, FL passed away at VNA Hospice House on July 23, 2017. He was born on November 26, 1928 in Orange, NJ to Ruth Marshall and Ralph Wells Wolf.

He attended Salisbury School in CT and graduated from Yale University in 1950. He spent three years in the US Army "at the invitation of President Harry S. Truman" (draft!). After graduating from OCS at Ft. Benning, GA he served as an Infantry Officer in the 40th Infantry Division in Korea.

After five years of bachelorhood in NYC, in 1959 he married Haroldene "Deanie" Whitcomb, "my first wife" of 58 years.

Marshall's entire 38-year business career was with Midlantic Corporation in NJ, retiring in 1992 as an Executive Vice President. He worked in human resources, bank operations and actively led the bank's Community Reinvestment Act initiatives. While working for the bank, he completed the 1st PMD program at Harvard Business School and graduated from the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University. While in NJ, he volunteered for many organizations including serving on the Board of the Paper Mill Playhouse, the Chatham Board of Education and the Greater Newark Urban Coalition.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deanie; a daughter, Wendy (Jon) White of Boxborough, MA; a son, Charlie (Meg) of Branchburg, NJ and two grandchildren, Andrew and Melissa White. He is also survived by his rescue dog, Juniper.

Marshall was an enthusiastic tennis and paddle tennis player for most of his life, and with his wife, traveled to all the Grand Slam tennis tournaments. In later years, he became an avid bridge player and was a member of the Vero Beach Duplicate Bridge Club. He was a 15-year Hospice volunteer which included visits with his pet therapy dogs Bumpers, Dillon and Simon to Hospice House and assisted living facilities in Vero Beach. He was a member of the Oak Harbor Club and served on its Advisory Board.

Marshall was a long-time suffering NY Giants fan and was well known to have a treasure of obscure puns and a quick wit.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his memory to the Humane Society of Vero Beach, P.O. Box 644, Vero Beach, FL 32961 or VNA & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A celebration of life will be held next summer at Squam Lake, New Hampshire where he and his family vacationed for almost 50 years.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

.Mr Wolf was responsible for me coming to Midlantic National Bank in 1973.
I telephoned him out of no where and informed him of my unique qualities and he apparently requested his personnel department to reach out to me.
The rest is history.
I also earned my MBA at night while working at the bank.they paid 100 percent of the cost of my MBA , something that is very rare.
What a fine man he was band respected by everyone.
God bless the Wolf Family
