Ted Zugelter Obituary

TED AUSTIN ZUGELTER Ted Austin Zugelter, 54, of Vero Beach, found peace at last, Monday, February 15, 2010 in the intensive care unit of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Ft. Pierce, Florida. His death was caused by complications resulting from a long illness. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, July 30, 1955, Ted spent many happy days with his older brother, Tom, growing up in the Queen City, before the family moved to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Ted attended Proctor Academy, Andover, New Hampshire and St. George's School, Newport, Rhode Island, before graduating from The Good Hope School in Frederiksted, St. Croix. Following his graduation, he attended the University of Miami in Florida. Ted resided in Vero Beach since 1988. Those who knew Ted growing up remembered him as a "gorgeous and adorable child." He possessed a love of sports, a wry sense of humor, inborn good manners and creative artistic talent - none of which were ever completely diminished by the illness he faced as an adult. His generous spirit once prompted his maternal grandmother to predict that he would become a minister. As an adult, Ted found solace in his art and the paintings that he lovingly created will be given to family members, his friends and caregivers at New Horizons of the Treasure Coast in Ft. Pierce. He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Janette Zugelter, and William Austin Moss and Carrie Moss all of Cincinnati, Ohio in addition to an uncle, Verdon Austin Moss. Ted is survived by his supportive and loving family, all residents of Vero Beach, including his parents, Dan and Ann Zugelter, his brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Joyce Zugelter and his nephews, Kyle and Austen Zugelter. A private family service, officiated by Father Robert Stull of Christ Church, will be held, February 26, 2010 in the Chapel of Trinity Church and Trinity's Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts can be made to New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, Inc., 4500 W. Midway Road, Ft. Pierce, FL 34981, in recognition of the compassionate care provided to Ted, especially during the last years of his life. paid obituary

I was greatly dismayed to see the notice of Ted's passing. Although I did not know Ted personally, I did come to know his parents somewhat through their consistant and loving support of Ted. My deepest sympathy for your loss. Bonnie--front desk BHC
