What a hero! I remember the first time I saw Guy Lafleur in Calgary when practising with the Montreal Canadians in the early 80s at the Calgary Stampede Corral. I was working the midnight shift and a co-worker, Paul told me they were practising that morning at the Corral. I took my son (very young hockey player) and daughter (very young, to be a ringette player) from school, with me that morning and off we went to the Corral. There was Guy Lafleur, flying down the ice with the puck, and team mates Larry Robinson and Bob Gainey were not going to let Guy through to score...or so it seemed....just about at the blue line, suddenly Guy was in mid-air doing a full circle in the air avoiding Larry Robinson and his stick ... still advancing to the net with the puck. It was spectacular !!! Both Larry Robinson and Bob Gainey had stopped and both were bent over laughing - not that it was funny but in awe of how Guy had just gotten through them both.....my husband Ken had to work, but he would have enjoyed that morning. Our family including my father and mother, were big fans of Guy Lafleur. Rest in Peace Guy Lafleur. Our condolences to you and your family.

For me “The Flower” was my idol as a kid an recently again knowing he became a helicopter pilot . My dream is also to fly . Guy knew how to fly on skates and how to fly with his intelligence . With his intelligence in his senior years he could continue to fly without skates .
He was a man a lot of us strive to be !!! He has set a great example of how to live life to the fullest ! He is in our minds and hearts , will not be forgotten this French Canadian hero and gentleman !

By far a wonderful man, a wonderful legend and the best hockey player a team could ask for. LaFleur was my favorite player and is still missed on the ice. RIP my friend. To his family and friends, I offer my deepest condolences. May you find peace in the happy memories you have shared with a wonderful father, son, husband, friend and collegue. RIP Guy.

You did not need to be a passionate hockey fan to love watching Montreal Canadian´s right winger swooping over the ice with his blond mane waving behind him. Guy Lafleur was also a benefactor and supported various charities and causes, his last being the founding of the ` Le Fonds Guy Lafleur´ to help researchers find a cure for cancer. Godspeed Guy and my sincere condolences to the family, whom to meet in person I once had the privilege! H.K. Sauerwein, Neuropsychologist

My favorite athlete of all time, made me a hockey fan and a Hab fan as a child. The most exciting player to watch and during his big years there was no stopping him. Number 10 is one of my favorite numbers that I use everyday. I flew back East from Vancouver Island to see him play his last two games of his career in Montreal (where he scored) and Quebec City. I was so proud to see what he gave back to the world after retirement...a true gentleman. You will be missed but never forgotten my Idol!

The Flower brought so much rivalry to our family, in a good way! With Danny Gallivan broadcasting, He shoots, he scores was usually followed by a closeup of Lafleur! Yea, when he was drafted, he had big skates to fill, but he succeeded. A class act! RIP. My condolences to the family!
