Ake Linnell Obituary
WORCESTER - Ake Gunnar Linnell, 76, passed away at home on Friday, September 26 2014. Ake was born September 24, 1938 in Orebro, Sweden and received degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Orebro Technical Institute and the Royal Technical Institute in Stockholm. He had a long and successful career with Astra Pharmaceuticals that brought him from Sweden to Brazil and eventually to Worcester where he resided since 1981.
In his retirement he was an avid golfer, accomplished gardener, clever bridge player, wine enthusiast and he enjoyed both domestic and international travel with his wife.
He is survived by his wife Birgitta 'B' and his four children Kicki Fraser and Peter of Cascais Portugal, Ylva Kelsall and Angus of St. Davids PA, Cecilia Colmer and Keith of Oro Valley AZ and Joachim Linnell and Kay of Pittsburgh PA. He leaves 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, September 29 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street. Following the service, friends are welcome to a celebration of Ake's life at Worcester Country Club.

Kära Bittan med familj.
Fick idag höra genom en golfvän att Åke inte längre finns med er.
Vi hade några härliga år tillsammans i Sao Paolo Brasilien. Barnen var små och familjerna umgicks och hade trevligt.
Att Åke inte längre är med er känns väldigt tråkigt. Vi tänker på er och önskar allt gott i fortsättningen.

Just found out about Ake's passing. Denise and I would like to extend our condolences. Ake was one of the first and finest people we experienced at Astra and I have fond recollections of working with him.

Sue and I were saddened by the news of Ake's death last week. Of all my supervisors through my professional carrier, Ake stands out as an outstanding leader. His deep knowledge of pharmaceutical operations and the way he shared it with others will be remembered.
