Allen R. Baker

Whitinsville - Allen R. Baker, of Whitinsville, went home to be with the Lord on his 81st birthday. He passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Blackstone Valley Health and Rehab. Ctr., Whitinsville. He was the husband of Audrey D. (Dickson) Baker.

He was born in Whitinsville on May 13, 1940, the son of the late Iga and Cornelia (Haringa) Baker. He was a graduate of Northbridge High School and the former Worcester Jr. College. He had also attended Calvin College, MI and earned his MBA at Anna Maria College, Paxton.

Mr. Baker was the Director of Purchasing where he had been employed at Hyde Tools in Southbridge for 20 years prior to his retirement in 2006. Previously, he had worked for Neles Jamesbury and Sprague Electric, both in Worcester.

An active lifelong member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville, he had served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder, Men's Choir member, custodian, and served with Straight Ahead Ministries. He had also been a member of the Town of Northbridge Finance Committee. He enjoyed running, gardening, golfing, sports, especially the Patriots and Red Sox, and traveling around the world.

In addition to his wife Audrey of 58 years, he is survived by his children Gary A. and his wife Karen Baker of Grand Rapids, MI, David L. Baker of Whitinsville, Karyn L. and her husband Scott Schneider of Sutton, Brian D. Baker and Christine B. Baker, both of Whitinsville; 6 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Dr. William Baker of Wilbraham.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Blackstone Valley Health and Rehab./St. Camillus Health, Compassus Hospice Team and Senior Helpers for their compassionate care.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 9 – 10 AM in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville followed by a funeral service at 10 AM in the church sanctuary.

Burial will be private at Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church Building & Restoration Fund, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville, MA 01588 or to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
